Underground Coal Gasification and Generation
(UCGG)
Indonesia has a large of coal deposits (more 100 m depth). The available deposits estimated afford to supply power generator for more than 30 years.
The depth underground coal reserves which is not economical exploration by conventional mining techniques can be converted in situ to produce gas for power generation.
The electricity power produced 60 – 200 MW is significant to support electricity infrastructure in Indonesia.
Descriptions of Underground Coal Gasification and Generation technology
- Coal is converted in situ to a combustible gas that can be used as a fuel for power generation
- The coal seam typically >100m depth
- No mining, transport, reclamation, and management of combustion residues are required

Pensa arrangement
Pensa has identified possible power projects in the provinces of North Sumatra, East Kalimantan, South / Central Kalimantan and South Sulawesi.
Solar Pumping System
8 x 12 bp solar module 160 Wp were designed and supplied for Kabupaten Gunungkidul Yogyakarta Special Province to deliver drinking water for more than 1200 villagers with 3200 m water pipe and about almost 80 m head.
The complete installation of solar panel, AC inverter, controller, batteries, automatic pump controller, and electrical panel were fitted by PENSA.
The controller and system are designed and manufactured by PENSA
Application for Indonesia Condition
As the main problem in several Indonesia region is the lack of water supply, the dry area can use a similar system like this installation in Gunungkidul or use a deep well water system to supply the water for community. The output of the system is AC power, so there will be no difficulty to get the AC equipment locally.
Why was PV selected
Photovoltaic energy was selected for this project due to the remoteness of the sites; no electricity available and no extensive maintenance is required. Site access was difficult and connection to a central electricity grid is not possible, a stand alone solar power system proved to be the most cost effective and reliable power source.
