ZIRCONIUM
Its natural form is sand and easily seen. This mineral is heavy metal and become a raw material of high technology products such as ceramic, bio ceramic, micro chip, high temperature refractory, nuclear reactor materials, chemical process equipment (anti corrosion), energy generating plant component, filter, TV glass, temperature sensor, etc.
America, Australia, Japan and Canada are major suppliers of Zirconium and its derivatives. Some countries in Europe, Africa and Asia also start to supply the global market. The recent demand is higher than available supply. The Zirconium price is geting higher by time.
Recently Australia has the biggest concentrate of Zirconium in the world, i.e., ± 400.000 tonnes. South Africa has ± 250.000 tonnes and Indonesia has only ± 250 tonnes.
From PENSA study, in the mid of Kalimantan is predicted ± 200 million tonnes of Zirconium concentrate on 20.000 ha land (the land is under PENSA’s concession). With this huge amount of concentrate Indonesia will be the biggest supplier in the global market.
